Black
History Week, February 26-27, 2009
School groups will hear from former professional athletes and coaches
who have continued to make contributions in their community since
their playing and coaching days. Among the speakers will be Walter
Reed, W.C. Gorden, Eddie Payton, Leon Seals, Ben Williams and many
more.
Women
in Sports Day, February 18, 2009
Well-known female sports figures and others speak to school groups
on the positive influence and strong impact sports has played in
their lives. Sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi and we will be assisted by Velocity Sports Performance.
The Cellular South Bailey Howell & Jennifer Gillom Trophies March 30, 2009
The Howell Trophy in men’s college basketball, the Gillom Trophy in women's college basketball, the Conerly Trophy in college football and the Ferriss Trophy in college baseball constitute the four elements of the Cellular South
Outstanding Player Awards Series. Several of the events have been televised live throughout the state by Mississippi Public Broadcasting.

Sports Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf Tournament April 20, 2009
First Commercial Bank presents the annual Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum Celebrity Golf Scramble at the Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison, MS. All players will be teamed with a Hall of Fame member, college coach or college representative. Celebrate spring and Mississippi sports. BIG fun!

BlueShield of Mississippi PopStar Awards Presentation May 13, 2009
The only gathering of the year anywhere in the state of Mississippi's
best high school athletes in all sanctioned sports from both the
public and private school ranks as determined by the sports staff
of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger. The award is named after late inductee
Pop Allen, who was a longtime athletic director for the Jackson
Public Schools, and the National Athletic Director of the year in
1981.

The
Cellular South Ferriss Trophy May 18, 2009
Major League scouts and college coaches in Mississippi select the best college baseball player in a state that produces numerous collegiate stars. The award is named after Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer and long-time Delta State head coach Dave "Boo" Ferriss. The Ferriss Trophy is part of the Cellular South Outstanding Player Awards Series.

Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Weekend July 31-August 1, 2009
Welcome Mississippi's newest legends at the 47th annual Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet on Friday night then say hello to many of the Hall of Famers at the Museum Saturday morning.

The
Cellular South Conerly Trophy December 2, 2008
Who will be Mississippi's top college football player in 2008? The thirteenth annual media-selected Cellular South Conerly Trophy will answer that question following the completion of the regular season. This year's event will be in Clarksdale, MS. The Conerly Trophy is part of the Cellular South Outstanding Player Awards Series.
