The Jackson Touchdown Club controls the process that nominates, elects, and inducts members into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. The nomination process of the MSHOF is open to the public. Nomination forms are available through Glen Waddle, Secretary of the Jackson Touchdown Club and the MSHOF Selection Committee, at P.O. Box 12905, Jackson, MS 39236. Eligibility requirements are outlined as follows:

Mississippi connection or residency - born in Mississippi, long-time resident, athlete or coach who competed in Mississippi, or someone identified in public mind as being a sports person from Mississippi.

  • Athletic ability and sports connection - athlete or coach in any team sport, athletic administrator, or someone identified in public mind as outstanding sports person from Mississippi.
  • Time requirements - the person must be either retired from the sport for five years, or be 50 years of age or older and still active in their particular sport

  • Citizenship - in addition to athletic achievement, the Selection Committee must give consideration to the nominee's off the field character, including leadership and citizenship.

  • Permanent open nominations - once a person is nominated, they remain a nominee on a permanent basis until they are selected for induction. The MSHOF Selection Committee considers every person nominated each year for possible induction and accepts any updated information on any person previously nominated.
