Boo Ferriss, who won 46 games in his first two Major League seasons,was inducted into the Bosox Hall of Fame recently.
Dave "Boo" Ferriss had pitching smarts, a nasty sinker and the type of control associated with winners. What he didn't have on his side was medical science.

Jackson Ad Club Helps Museum
Officers of the Jackson Advertising Federation recently demonstrated their support of the Museum through their Vertical Golf fundraiser.Ticket buyers bought numbers for golf balls that were dropped from a helicopter with the ball landing closest to a stationary bullseye producing the winner of a $1,000 top prize. Proceeds from the event benefitted the JAF and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum . Shown presenting a $500 check to Museum Executive Director Michael Rubenstein are JAF President Chip Sarver(foreground, right); JAF Past president Donna Sims(background,left);and, JAF Vice-President Terri Mascagni (background, right). Not pictured was Tammy Smith , Treasurer of the JAF. "This was a much-needed show of interest in the Museum by local advertising professionals and we greatly appreciate it," said Rubenstein.

Three Mississippi Olympians to Dedicate New Exhibit
Mississippi State University baseball coach Ron Polk
will join two other Mississippi olympians at the Third Annual Pizza Hut Family Weekend Celebration at the Museum on August 10-11, 2002. Long jumper Larry Myricks and baseball player Tubby Black will help dedicate a new Olympic uniform exhibit in the Museum's Puckett Olympic Room.

Sisters Who Share
Museum volunteer Lisa Brown (left) is shown with her sister Brenda, the vice-president of the Museum's board. Lisa donated a kidney to Brenda on July 26, 2002.
Sisters who share a love of the Museum also now share a kidney. Brenda Dyson, vice-president of the Museum's board, recently underwent a kidney transplant at UAB. The kidney was a gift from her sister, Lisa Brown who is a volunteer at the Museum.
