Despite the unseasonably cold weather, a record number of over 140 players braved the wind and cold temperature. Going home with the top honors were former football coach, Jim Carmody and his Monroe, LA team of Charles McDonald, Keith Prince, John Pruitt, Gary Huckabay and Wally Jones.

"These guys were troopers to play in these conditions," said Margaret Ferriss White, golf tournament coordinator. "The player's wind vest gift came in very handy".

2008 Hall of Fame inductees Will Clark and Paul Covington were among the mix, as well as MSU Rockey Felker, Ray Guy, Don Kessinger, Warner Alford and Bailey Howell.

First Commercial Bank was the title sponsor. Major sponsor was DiamondJacks Casino in Vicksburg. Corporate Sponsors were Wells Moore Simmons & Hubbard, Mattiace Properties, MasterCare, Inc., Morgan Stanley, James Machine Works from Monroe, LA , AT&T and Allen Wrench.
