Cellular South Howell, Gillom Finalists Revealed

MSU's Jamont Gordon is the only repeat Cellular South Howell Trophy finalist from 2007.

Ole Miss rebounding machine Dwayne Curtis joins Mississippi State teammates Jamont Gordon and Charles Rhodes as the finalists for the 2008 Cellular South Howell Trophy (men).

Among the ladies, senior guard Jennifer Rushing from undefeated Delta State, All-Conference USA performer Pauline Love from USM and Ole Miss’ Shawn Goff, a second team All-SEC selection, are the finalists for the first annual Cellular South Gillom Trophy (women).

Delta State guard Jennifer Rushing has been the leader of the undefeated Lady Statesmen.

DWAYNE CURTIS: OM Senior Center Chicago, IL; ranks fourth nationally in field goal percentage (65%) and offensive rebounding (4.4 rpg)

JAMONT GORDON: MSU Junior Guard Nashville, TN; unanimous first team All-SEC selection; Wooden and Cousy Award finalist;

CHARLES RHODES: MSU Senior Forward Jackson, MS; first team coaches All-SEC selection; 8th in SEC scoring (16.9); 6th in SEC rebounding (7.7 rpg)

SHAWN GOFF: OM Junior Forward Tallahassee, FL; second team AP & Coaches All-SEC; led SEC in blocks (2.33 bpg) while setting school record

PAULINE LOVE: USM Sophomore Forward Luxora, ARK; led team in scoring (16.9 ppg) and rebounding (10.6 rpg); All- C-USA first team selection

JENNIFER RUSHING: Delta State Senior Guard Hollandale, MS; led undefeated team to Division II Elite Eight; All-Gulf South Conference and NCAA South Regional MVP.

The six finalists and their coaches are expected to be in attendance Monday March 31, 2008 when the 2008 trophy recipients are announced at the BancorpSouth Conference Center in Tupelo, MS.
