The hour-long presentation will be televised live statewide from the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the Delta State University campus by Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Former ESPN analyst and current Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Jeff Brantley will host the telecast.
“The Cellular South Ferriss Trophy is a statewide honor Cellular South is proud to bestow on Mississippi’s star collegiate baseball player,” said Hu Meena, President of Cellular South. “What better way to celebrate the prestige and tradition of the trophy than to have its legendary namesake, Dave ‘Boo’ Ferriss, on hand at Delta State University.” Dave “Boo” Ferriss , is a Shaw, MS native who is a member of the Mississippi, Delta State University, Mississippi State University, and Boston Red Sox Halls of Fame. Ferriss, the winningest baseball coach in Delta State history, will be in attendance at the event. “Cellular South encouraged us to make the move and Delta State and the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce were happy to have us so it made a lot of sense,” said Museum Executive Director Michael Rubenstein. “Holding the event in Cleveland is also a show of respect for Coach Ferriss who has been a great ambassador for Mississippi and baseball for many years.” A reception will precede the presentation.
