Watermelon Classic Registration Underway
Mississippi's largest road race takes place July 4th morning at 7:30 a.m.
Registration is currently underway for the 27th running of the Baptist Health System Watermelon Classic 5k Run and Walk,
which will start at the Museum at 7:30am on July 4th morning. The event has grown into Mississippi's largest road race according to the Missisippi Track Club.

This year's race sports several new wrinkles among them that THERE WILL BE NO RACE REGISTRATION ON FRIDAY JULY 3rd, the day before the event .Entrants are free to pre-register for $18 or register on the day of the race for $25. Race day registration begins at 6:15am.

More than 1500 runners and walkers participated in the 2008 Watermelon Clasic.

Induction Banquet Tix Now on Sale
Induction banquet tickets are now on sale.
Tickets for the 47th Annual BancorpSouth Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet are now on sale.
Tickets are $100 each and are good for admission to the pre-banquet receptions for each inductee as well as the banquet itself.

The six members of the Class of 2009 are former USM football coaches Jeff Bower and Jim Carmody. Tyrone Keys and Hugh Green were former Mississippi prep stars who competed against each other before embarking on successful college and pro careers. Senior PGA tournament director Robert Morgan and all-time Ole Miss' men's basketball scoring leader John Stroud complete the class.

The induction banquet on Friday night July 31, 2009 highlights a weekend of activities that conclude Saturday night August 1, 2009 with the Drawdown of Champions co-sponsored by Puckett Machinery and the law firm of Wells, Mooe, Simmons and Hubbard.

M- Braves Hall of Fame Night Ton of Fun
Six members of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame threw out the first pitch and signed autographs at Trustmark Park Thursday June 4, 2009 as part of the Second Annual Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Night sponsored by the Missisippi Braves .

"We brought them good luck," said Museum Executive Director Michael Rubenstein . The struggling M-Braves blanked the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx 4-0 in the Double A Southern League contest.
