| Danny White |
Danny White, the All-American collegian who still holds 22 records with America's Team, will be the keynote speaker for the 2002 Conerly Trophy Presented by Cellular South.
White, who finished his college career at Arizona State University as the NCAA's all-time passing leader, guided the Cowboys to three NFC title games after assuming the starting quarterback's job from Hall of Famer Roger Staubach.
The native Arizonan who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1997, spent the last 11 seasons as the only head coach and general manager in the history of the Arizona Rattlers, guiding the team to a pair of Arena League championships.
"Danny White's reputation is one of class, character and ability," said Museum Executtive Director Michael Rubenstein. "That makes him a perfect fit for the Conerly Trophy presentation."
The Conerly Trophy, named after the late Charlie Conerly, is presented annually to Mississippi’s top college football player as selected by a statewide panel of 60 media representatives. All players from all of Mississippi’s four-year college football programs are eligible to win the Conerly Trophy, which was first awarded in 1996.(For more information on the Conerly Trophy, it's past recipients and presenters, go back to the home page, then click Special Events/Conerly Trophy).
