2009 Conerly Finalists Revealed; Tkts Moving Fast

Some very familiar names and some that are gaining big time exposure for the first time are among the ten media-selected nominees for Mississippi’s college football player of the year, the recipient of the 2009 Cellular South Conerly Trophy. The trophy will be presented Monday November 30, 2009 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in Jackson, MS. For ticket information, contact 1-800-280-FAME (3263).
Listed alphabetically by school, the players are:
ALCORN: Tim Buckley SR QB
• Team leader helped end drought with win over in-state rival JSU
BELHAVEN: Cordario Calvin JR WR
• Led BC in scoring & receiving, averaging more than 12 catches/game
DELTA STATE: Trevar Deed JR WR
• Led Delta State in rushing, receiving & scoring
JACKSON STATE: Malcolm Palmer SR DB
• Team leader in total tackles and sacks
MILLSAPS: Chris Graves SR QB
• Helped Majors to first consecutive 8-win seasons in school history
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE: Adam Shaffer SR. QB
• Offensive Player of the year for American S’west Conference Champs
MISSISSIPPI STATE: Anthony Dixon SR RB
• All-time MSU rushing leader; holds numerous school records
MS. VALLEY STATE: Jared Green SO DL
• Led Valley in tackles for loss and sacks
OLE MISS: Dexter McCluster SR RB
• Electrifying style; holds Ole Miss single game rushing record
USM: Damion Fletcher SR RB
• All-time school rushing leader; 2007 Conerly recipient
