All-American Ole Miss quarterback Charlie Conerly (R) could throw it and All-SEC end Ray Poole could catch it.

Ole Miss teammates Conerly and Poole became New York Giants teammates where Conerly held for Poole's PAT's.
Ray Poole was a multi-talented athlete. He was a 4-year letterman in baseball who signed a pro contract with the Chicago Cubs in 1947.

Ray Poole's locker at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame contains his uniform from the now defunct Chicago Colllege All-Star game.
