Charlie Brown, Lucy, Schroeder and Snoopy will celebrate the opening of the 2008 baseball season at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.

Some of America’s best-known and most beloved cartoon characters will be part of the “Peanuts at Bat” traveling exhibit that will be on display March 8, 2008-April 19, 2008 at the Museum located at 1152 Lakeland Drive in Jackson, MS. The exhibit, organized by the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California, is co-sponsored locally by Priority One Bank and Comcast with a supporting sponsorship from the Sam & Bernice C. Wittel Foundation.

“Peanuts at Bat” contains digital reproductions of original Charles Schulz drawings of the famous characters in baseball settings from the 1950’s through the 1990’s. Numerous additional items of vintage Peanuts baseball memorabilia like a lunchbox adorned with Charlie Brown throwing and a plush doll of Snoopy in a baseball uniform will also be on display.

Being in Mississippi for Opening Day is going to bring good luck to Charlie Brown and his teammates. “Somehow, I feel this is going to be Charlie Brown’s best club yet,” said Museum Executive Director Michael Rubenstein of the team that has been losing for more than 50 years. “No rainouts, no losses. His opponents will be the real “blockheads”.

The exhibit will be available to all Museum visitors at no extra charge. Regular Museum admission is $5 for adults; $3.50 for seniors and students; and, $3 for groups of twelve or more. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10am-4pm. Advance reservations for groups are suggested. Contact the Museum at 601-982-8264 or 1-800-280-FAME or at generalinfo@msfame.com.
