Fittingly, Vicksburg, MS native George Morris captained the team that claimed the crown at the benefit golf scramble at the Vicksburg Country Club April 19, 2002.

of Fame, was a two-time All Big Eight selection in basketball and football at now defunct Carr Central High School in Vicksburg. He went on to earn All-American football honors at Georgia Tech and officiated games in the SEC for more than 20 years.
More than 20 celebrities played in the event including Lance Alworth, Kayo Dottley, Harper Davis, Barney Poole, Ray Poole, Rockey Felker, Bucky McElroy, Hugh Pepper, Bailey Howell and JOhnny Vaught.
Morris' winning team consisted of fellow Vicksburgers Kevin Bass and Jake Ronabusch. Contributing sponsors were Cooper Lighting, River Region Health System, Isle of Capri Casino and Allstate Insurance Company.
The tournament was held in memory of Vicksburg native Crawford Mims who was inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
