Induction Weekend Here!

A near capacity crowd jammed the Jackson Marriott ballroom for the 48th Annual BancorpSouth Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Induction Weekend FRiday July 30, 2010.

The members of the Class of 2010 easily constituted the most diverse class in MSHOF history with an amaterur runner, amateur tennis champion, professional driver, boxer and two college football stars.

The Drawdown of Champions is co-sponsored by Wells, Moore, Simmons and Hubbard PLLC and Puckett Machinery.

The Class of 2010 consists of Henry Armstrong, Allen Brown, Bob Coleman, Frank Dowsing, Lake Speed and Ken Toler.

Museum Closed Monday August 2nd
The Museum will be closed Monday August 2, 2010 following the activities of the 48th Annual BancorpSouth Induction Banquet Weekend that includes the Drawdown of Champions sponsored by Puckett Machinery and the Wells, Moore, Simmons and Hubbard law firm.

The Museum will resume normal operating hours of 10am-4pm Monday through Saturday on Tuesday August 3, 2010.

Roland Marbie: 1920-2010
Roland Marble (R) retired from the Museum's board in February of this year. He is shown at his retirement reception with current Museum board President Nick Crutcher.
Roland Marble, the Museum's first and only board member emeritus, died Sunday July 11, 2010 in Jackson, MS. He was 90.

Marble was the longtime secretary to the board. A veteran attorney, he offered invaluable counsel to the board on a variety of legal matters. His late wife Virginia was the first female member of the Museum's 200 Club support group.

"He surprised us when he announced he was retiring from the board at its February meeting," said Museum Executive Director Michael Rubenstein."He said we were the last thing he was giving up."

The family designated Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame board members as honorary pallbearers.
